After more than twenty years from the Birds/Birds Symposium between artists, composers, art historians, ornithologists and ethologists curated by Carolyn Christov Bakargiev and Hans-Ulrich Obrist in the Selva di Paliano, the bird park of Prince Antonello Ruffo di Calabria, Zerynthia nel BOSCO DI PALIANO presents the sound project the Via dei Canti: Uccelli / Birds. In all cultures, the singing of birds has always produced a great fascination with the human species.
This is testified by thousands of musical pieces, sounds, field recordings that evoke the language to which the entirely sound installation that Zerynthia proposes is dedicated, reworking a project created in 2013 for the Nuit Blanche in Paris under the artistic direction of Chiara Parisi and Julie Pellegrin. Twenty-four pieces created by sound artists, composers and visual artists of different generations and geographical contexts will be available to listen to visitors to the forest. A succession that passes from French pigeons to English crows, from Russian nightingales to the billbirds of Australia arriving at the sound of the birds of the Rome Zoo, interspersed with the songs of the birds of the woods.
