NEW GUEST PROJECT hosts projects that RAMradioartemobile has deemed related to its themes. It therefore proposes from time to time a focus on research by artists, musicians and sound artists on an exchange basis.
NEW GUEST PROJECT #1 – Cities and Memory https://citiesandmemory.com/
“Cities and Memory is one of the world’s largest sound projects, with more than 1,000 artists contributing to our goal of remixing the world, one sound at a time. Encompassing field recording, sound art and sound mapping, every location on the Cities and Memory sound map features two sounds: the original field recording of that place, and a reimagined sound that presents that place and time as somewhere else, somewhere new.
The listener can explore places through their actual sounds, to explore reimagined versions of what those places could be – or to flip between the two different sound worlds at leisure.”
From Cities and Memory, RAM chose the project: PRISON SONGS https://citiesandmemory.com/prisonsongs/
“Prison Songs recomposes and reimagines recordings taken from the Mississippi State Penitentiary during the 1950s. These simple prison songs are not just historically vital, but are also among some of the most moving and beautiful recordings you’ll here. Here, fifteen recordings are reimagined by sound artists and musicians from around the world, each bringing to bear their own experience and interpretation to a different song.”
